This week, Captive Planning Associates became one of the first captive managers to announce its adherence to the recently issued Captive Manager Code of Conduct (‘Code’) developed by the Self-Insurance Institute of America (‘SIIA’).

The SIIA Code of Conduct was developed by a diverse group of industry participants for the purpose of establishing an understandable and concise set of practices that could be used to differentiate ‘best in class’ captive managers. The purpose of the Code is to provide guidance to captive managers in the conduct of their captive insurance and reinsurance business, while simultaneously educating and protecting current and potential clients. Among other things, the Code outlines practices related to manager integrity, conflict of interest, and practice management.

“As Chair of the SIIA Code of Conduct Task Force, Captive Planning Associates is proud to endorse and adhere to SIIA’s Captive Manager Code of Conduct,” stated president and CEO John Capasso.

“We believe this is a necessary step to ensuring the continuance and strengthening of ethical practices across the industry. Further, we believe the Code will help us better serve our clients by establishing expectations, improving communication, and building trust. Our adherence to the Code demonstrates not only our commitment to quality and service for our clients, but our commitment to a professional and ethical set of standards industry-wide.”

Captive Planning Associates is dedicated to maintaining excellence and integrity in all aspects of its business operations and we encourage all captive managers as well as captive clients and prospective clients to become familiar with the core principles of the Code.
